Man’s Search for Meaning
Viktor E. Frankl · translated by Ilse Lasch

Read it slowly. Part One first. Don’t skip ahead.

The Alchemist
Paulo Coelho · translated by Alan R. Clarke

Read it. Don’t believe all of it. Keep the part that asks something of you.

Looking for where to start? Here are ten books that mattered enough to keep: The Reading List.

How the Summaries Work:

- Read it on the page or take the PDF.
- Every summary says what the book argues, what I make of it, what I keep, and what to do with it.
- Where I disagree, I say so as my own experience, not as a verdict on you.

Cole's Field Notes

Every week—one thing worth writing down. Cole's Field Notes is a short dispatch from the desk of Ashford Cole. One principle, one insight, one question. It takes three minutes to read. Longer to forget.

The format is what the name suggests: a field note. The kind of thing you write when something matters and you don't have time to be precious about it.

This is for the men who carry a compass. The men who know where north is and intend to hold it.
